The perfect venue for couples, friends & families celebrating special occasions or groups & businesses hosting private functions
Built originally as the family home of the owners of Denham Aerodrome during the First World War
Our restaurant has been part of the community for over 100 years. It’s Founder Manuel Resco, recognising its potential, acquired the building in 1985 and converted it into the Biggles Restaurant & Country Club. Since then it has remained a popular dining spot with our customers and has built its enviable reputation over the last 30 years, concentrating on quality food & service whilst still representing exceptional value for money. Situated besides the picturesque airfield, diners can enjoy the surroundings during a relaxed and memorable dining experience at a pace to suit them.
Manuel Resco arrived in England from Galicia in Spain in 1969 and spent his early years working in several quality restaurants in the local area. Over the next 16 years Manuel learnt everything he could about the hospitality industry, and he developed a real flare for cooking. He also met and married his wife Sheena, and with her enduring support he opened Biggles. After 30 years however, he decided in 2017 that the time had finally come for him to retire, and he wishes to express his deepest gratitude to all his loyal customers and friends that have supported him at Biggles over the years.
Current Owners: Juan P Anido & Lourenco Franco
Between them Juan and Lourenco have worked at Biggles for more than 35 years, and together have over 65 years working within the industry. In 2017 Manuel handed the restaurant over to the pair so that they may continue this dining legacy; with Juan managing the front of house, and Lourenco running the kitchen as head chef. They both operate a full ‘hands on’ role in all areas of the business, ensuring guests enjoy the friendly, family atmosphere and fine cuisine that Biggles Restaurant has to offer.
Biography for Juan
Juan moved to England in 1980 from a small village in the province of La Coruna in Spain. He began his career working within a number of popular hotels on the Isle of Wight where he quickly learnt how to operate all areas of the hotel industry. In 1990 however, he joined Manuel’s team at Biggles Restaurant where he quickly assumed the role of general manager. He has remained part of the team here almost exclusively for the last 28 years, except for a brief absence during which he decided to launch another restaurant. He is extremely proud to be able to continue the legacy that is Biggles and hopes to be able to serve our friends and loyal customers for years to come.
Biography for Lourenco
Originally from the beautiful Portuguese island of Madeira, Lourenco moved to England in 1987. He quickly learnt that he had both a love and talent for cooking, and his early career saw him learning his trade working within a range of restaurants throughout Knightsbridge in London. In 2003 Lourenco came onboard at Biggles, where he has served as Head Chef since. His passion for using good quality locally sourced produce is evident in his dishes, and alongside Juan, he is very excited about continuing to serve our friends and loyal customers for years to come.
Our Food
